It was Heian Era from 794-1184 when an emperor came to power and brought Chinese influence to this land and later on history shows that most typically Japanese took birth in this era. Most forging and hard cutter swords were created in that time. Tachi was sword of that time when it became customary sign because of its blades.
In Japanese feudal history, high class warriors used to this sword and Japanese defense people also make this sword standard. Mostly this sword was useful on horseback but fighters also use this on ground. Samurai warriors use this weapon a lot but in mid of 10th century Mongol invasions period shows that there are such weaknesses in Tachi sword that led to convert it to Katana sword that was considered much sharpened and surprise hits.
Tachi is Japanese sword more curved and its average length is 78cm that is larger than Katana comparatively. In shape Tachi and Katana are very similar but only difference is that Warriors hung this sword with edge down rather than katana that they wore up with edge upward and tachi is one handed practice tool in comparison to Katana that is specifically designed for two hands. Another typical feature of a tachi is the kabutogane kashira that is extending over the samegawa skin and leave a window on both sides of the tsuka so the rayskin can be seen.
School of Martial Arts favor this sword too much because of its extra large length and dramatically more curved with very long tsuka. From an artist point of view slender shape, surface grain pattern, and much more refined tachi sword’s beauty is very admirable.
