Demands were changed for swords according to their ability and need in each decade. New technologies were developed by mankind.Generally first sword discovered in the period of Bronze age.

The Medieval period of history, traditionally known as the Middle Ages, it was the time from 5th to 6th century lasted from thousands of years.Middle ages began after collapse of Roman Empire and replaced by small kingdoms. That time Church was a great institution to learn and this learning institution made people together from all over the Europe. People of that time had very simple culture…they were doing farmery, trading and clergy. Medievel swords and weapons were discovered in that era. One kingdom was attacking other kingdom and establishing their rules in the state. Medieval weapons ranged from axes, daggers, knives and swords of different types depending upon the culture and location.Word “sword” come from old English word “swoerd” which mean “to cut, to wound”. Basic parts of sword are blade is primary sword part to which all other parts are attached, Annulet that was developed in middle ages to protect finger when wrapper over the guard, Double edged sword has no back and both sides are sharpened, Hilt; a complex guard that is finger ring to handle, Edge, fuller, grip, pommel etc.

Japanese swords are traditional bladed weapons of Japan which are categorized according to their size and method of manufacturing. Single edged long swords, double edged long swords, short swords like wakizashi, Tsurugi, Otacho, Nodachi etc. Khanjali is still considered Japanese weapon beacuse of its sharpened and forged. Japanese swords are commonly seen nowadays because of its beautiful decorative design and as antique. Blade is major part of any sword excellence. Different swords have different types of blades depend upon their smith and manufactiring methods.

Shape difference of each sword is very important characteristic, tip can be short, small or medium. As Kanjali has different and unique worth from all other swords. Its distinctive features are double edged with single fuller. This fuller helps in strengthening of lightening the blade of the sword. This is secondary weapon used in Georgia and Caucasus that is situated between Asia, Europe and Middle East

Pommel is slightly raised area attached with the handle of the sword and a guard also. Its shape is similar to Xiphos (this sword is double edges and single handed used by ancient Greeks) and the ancient Roman swords. Kindjal blades are similar to Scottish dirk (just like short dagger).

Circassian daggers and their scabbards have special features covered with gold, silver, embedded and stones and its handle is made of wood.Historical name of Circassian Dagger is “Adigha gkama” and sword is known by the name of Shashka. Don Cossacks adopted this type of dagger because it had superior ability to fight and easy to handle.

The Russian poets Alexander Pushkin (He is Russian poet of romantice era and founder of modern Russian literature wrote poem) and Mikhail Lermontov addressed celebrated poems to this weapon.
